Minimalistic Card Redesign

Settlers of Catan is a classic board game and I wanted to redesign its resource cards. I focused on a minimalistic style and inserting more vibrant colour.

The five resource cards are wood, wool (sheep), rock (ore), wheat (grain) and brick.

Brainstorming

After brainstorming, I decided to use a willow tree, ball of yarn, inukshuk, wheat plants and rounded bricks to represent the resources.

Card Design

The card is a standard playing card size and as an ode to the game’s board, had the icons in a central hexagon. For the card background, I chose to use coloured triangles to emulate a holographic card effect.

The finished cards have minimalistic icons with a playful feel.
